SEK Urgent Care is an independently-owned medical facility designed to handle non life-threatening illnesses and injuries. We are the preferred choice to the overcrowded and expensive Emergency Department for non life-threatening injuries or illnesses.
SEK Urgent Care provides a full range of medical services in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. For your convenience we provide x-ray, laboratory, EKG and other diagnostic services in our office.
We are staffed with a highly qualified team of licensed physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and complemented by an outstanding staff of registered radiology technicians, registered nurses, and support staff.
SEK Urgent Care is dedicated to providing you excellent medical care in a respectful, caring, and courteous manner. Our medical professionals offer treatment for walk-in patients, seven days a week, including evening and weekend hours. We accept most insurance plans for the services we provide.
Dr. Brent Cosens earned his undergraduate degree from Pittsburg State University and his D.O. from Kirksville College Of Osteopathic Medicine in 1988. Dr. Cosens spent the first 15 years of his medical profession working for Mercy hospital, before opening SEK Urgent Care in 2005. He and his wife Michele currently own SEK Urgent Care and Direct Onsite Care in Pittsburg, Kansas. Dr. Cosens says, “Practicing medicine is a very rewarding experience. I’m allowed to interact on a personal level with each person I see. The best part is that I get to help people get better.” Dr. Cosens has children ranging from ages 12 to 40. He enjoys bowling, golfing, and spending time with his family.
Michele has a degree and 21 years of work experience in radiology. She and Dr. Cosens own SEK Urgent Care and Direct Onsite Care together. Michele enjoys expanding her horizons by flying airplanes. She looks forward to flying more in the future. She enjoys spending time with with her family and watching her kids do all of the activities they love.
Megan was born and raised in Newton, Kansas. She earned her Bachelor of Nursing from Pittsburg State University, then earned her Master of Science in Nursing at Maryville University in St. Louis where she became a board certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
She is married to Brett who is the Youth Pastor at South Broadway Baptist Church. They have two adorable daughters, Beth and Brie. Megan loves interacting with their youth group at church and spending time with her family.
Dena was raised in Hume, Missouri. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. She then earned her Masters of Science in Nursing from Pittsburg State University and is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner. She has spent the last five years as a provider in a small rural hospital emergency room. Prior to that she spent 16 years as an emergency room nurse.
Dena lives in Nevada, Missouri with her husband, Leland. Leland is a paramedic and the director of the Vernon County Ambulance District. They have 8 children and 10 grandchildren. She and her husband enjoy camping, traveling and spending time with their family.
